PVC is a homopolymer with minimally branched  macromolecular chains featuring a molar mass of 40,000 to 150,000.  Industrial applications generally use PVC-U (unplasticized PVC).  Chemically, PVC has a structure which is similar to that of PE but instead of H atoms it has chorine atoms, which are attached to the side of the molecular chains in a non-ordered (atactic) manner. The large chlorine atoms prevent a parallel arrangement of the main chains: crystallisation  from the melt is not possible.

PVC-U has a high level of rigidity, very good chemical resistance and excellent electrical insulation properties.  PVC-U also displays excellent processability.

SIMONA® PPs is a low-flammability polypropylene made of high-molecular-weight, isotactic homopolymer. SIMONA® PPs is used wherever high chemical resistance and thermal resistance are required in conjunction with low flammability. The material PPs displays low flammability in accordance with DIN 4102 B1, thus meeting the requirements for applications within this area.

Service life and operational reliability are of crucial importance for the efficiency of piping systems. Deploying next-generation polyethylenes within the PE 100 class, SIMONA has developed state-of-the-art pipe materials with improved creep strength and thus increased stress crack resistance.

PE 100 represents a high-density PE (PE-HD) with an equivalent strain increment determined by creep test, sv20 °C, 50a, amounting to at least 10 N/mm2. In this test the creep of the material is determined under the assumption of the following conditions: 50 years service life, 20 °C thermal exposure and water as the test medium.

Alongside improved creep strength, PE 100 also displays greater mechanical strength. Its higher abrasion resistance ensures a longer service life for the piping system, especially if the medium to be conveyed contains solids.
